SOL BLISS

UPSTATE LACROSSE DIRECTOR
BOYS LACROSSE

Solomon Bliss has been an asset to the coaching ranks of FCA Northeast’s lacrosse ministry for the past few years, now Bliss will be taking on a new role as Regional Community/Camp Coordinator as he organizes FCA camps, clinics and travel teams across the Northeast.

Solomon became involved with FCA in the summer of 2013 when he served as a counselor at a Rochester-based day camp. He was impressed with what FCA stands for and how the program looks at the role of athletics in a young athlete’s life. While coaching for FCA the past two years, Bliss developed a strong faith-based relationship with the players, parents and coaches who were blessed by his God-given talents and skill set.

As Regional Coordinator, Bliss will be responsible for coordinating FCA camp and clinic programs, and spearheading an effort to get more kids from the Northeast to attend camps during the summer of 2015. The skill portion of the camps and clinics will remain within the camp director’s discretion, while Bliss will work to create a unified focus on the ministry aspects of the camps to ensure all camp and clinic directors and counselors have a shared mission and goals that include a consistent sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

A native of Tully, NY, Bliss played football, basketball and lacrosse at Tully High School. He received a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from Syracuse University and his Masters in Education from SUNY Cortland. While at Syracuse, Bliss played lacrosse all four years where he captained the Orangemen in his final two years and was also a two-time All-American. Bliss has played in the MLL for the past ten years, for the Rochester Rattlers from 2003-2008, and the Hamilton Nationals from 2009-2013.

From 2004-2012, Bliss coached football, basketball and lacrosse at Tully High, and continues to coach all three sports at Onondaga High School today where he is also teaches physical education.

Bliss and his wife Gretchen reside in Jamesville, NY, with their children Maggie and Jack. He enjoys hunting, fishing and anything active.
