Athlete. Coach. Staff. It doesn’t take Orchard Park native John Wellington much time to accomplish things, including playing sports – which he began to do as soon as he could walk. His senior year in high school, Wellington began playing FCA lacrosse. The following year, he started coaching FCA lacrosse, and within a few short years, he was called to serve on staff.

“I love how FCA uses the platform of sports to impact the lives of coaches and athletes. The ministry has helped me grow as a Christian athlete, and is helping to make me a better all-around person as I learn from the stories of others who have come from all walks of life – what went well for them and what didn’t,” Wellington said.

Wellington has coached FCA lacrosse for the past four years, and currently coaches the 2022 Orange team. In his staff role he enjoys working on many of the behind the scenes responsibilities for FCA’s rapidly growing lacrosse program.

While at Orchard Park High School, Wellington was a standout soccer and lacrosse player. He plays lacrosse in Roberts Wesleyan College’s Division II program where he is majoring in Sports Management. Besides playing sports, Wellington likes to hike, hunt and spend time outdoors.
