Shanay Bradley

Area representative, Syracuse Metro

Shanay Bradley enjoys connecting people by bringing groups of them together who might not normally gather together. Shanay joined FCA in 2006, and served three years as the Syracuse West Areas Representative, three years as the Area Director for Syracuse Metro and is now serving as the Area Representative of Syracuse Metro. Shane's deep desire to serve God in an intentional way motivated her to leave coaching and join FCA.

Shanays deep desire to serve God in an intentional way motivated her to leave coaching and join FCA. Shanay came to the realization that your identity shouldn’t come from what you do but why you do it and who it impacts. There was a time when she thought coaching was her only career option until the Lord showed her she could utilize her skills for building the Kingdom.

Bradley wants to be a witness of God’s saving grace and power to coaches and student-athletes by developing relationships. Bradley is motivated to provide opportunities and support for those who have few opportunities to learn about God, may be low on hope, and in need of a God-fearing love. Proverbs 11:14 — “Where there is no guidance the people fall, but in abundance of counselors there is victory” is a scripture she holds dear to her heart as she serves.

Shanay has a wealth of athletic and coaching experience from years of playing, coaching, and hosting youth sports camps. As a Bronx native, Bradley played four years of Softball and two years of basketball at South Bronx High School. She went on to play one year of Softball and two years of basketball at SUNY Delhi. After two successful seasons with the Broncos and earning an Associate’s Degree in Recreation and Sports Management, she transferred to SUNY New Paltz for her final two seasons. There she continued to lead the SUNYAC in rebounds in 2010-11 and 2011-12. She still holds the school’s single-game record for rebounds and is 6th in block shots. After exhausting her eligibility, she coached for a semester as a volunteer. After receiving the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship for academics, she continued her education abroad at The University of the West Indies - St. Augustine Campus in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. She joined the university’s team and competed throughout the Caribbean.

Bradley earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from SUNY New Paltz in spring 2013. She served as the women’s assistant coach at SUNY Potsdam from Fall 2013-2015. And concluded her college coaching career at her alma mater, SUNY New Paltz in 2015-2016 season, before joining the FCA Family. Bradley was subsequently inducted into the SUNY Delhi Sports Hall of Fame in 2019 as the second women basketball player ever to be inducted.

Team building activities, running local and international sports camps, sponsoring a local flag football team, supporting coaches and student-athletes by showing up to practices and games to pray with and cheer them on, going into schools to work on character development with student-athletes, taking team and action shots for coaches and student-athletes throughout their seasons, giving away bibles, providing resources, gifts, and food to teams, training students, coaches, and volunteers and various other community and team activities are some of the many things Shanay does with the help of amazing volunteers to encourage people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.

Her responsibilities also include hiring a team, building a solid board, and connecting with the community in new ways. She is excited to grow in her role as the Area Director and is grateful to God and to all the people who have supported and encouraged her along the way.

In her spare time Shanay enjoys exploring new opportunities, music, reading, rollerblading, biking, walking, traveling, spending time with her family, and volunteering in the community.
